Traffic Advisory as Expressway, Srinagar Highway Reopened
News Desk
Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) announced that the Islamabad Expressway, which was temporarily closed due to the arrival and departure of foreign delegates attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, has now been reopened in both directions. The Srinagar Highway has also been fully opened to traffic.
Despite the reopening, partial closures will continue on the Expressway and Srinagar Highway until the complete departure of foreign guests by tomorrow evening. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel on these routes during this period, a public relations officer informed APP.
He further stated that access to the Red Zone will be permitted only through Margalla Road for authorized personnel, urging the public to minimize travel in that area.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Sarfraz Virk emphasized the strict security measures in place, noting that 1,100 ITP officers have been deployed round the clock to ensure smooth traffic flow and assist citizens during the summit. The CTO also stressed the importance of public cooperation for the successful execution of the event.
Citizens are encouraged to stay updated on the traffic situation via Islamabad Police’s Radio FM 92.4 or the helpline Pukar 15.
