TikTok Adds Mindfulness to Your Feed—Here’s How

Islamabad:  TikTok has introduced a new Time and Well-being space, offering tools designed to help users relax, unwind, and cultivate more balanced digital habits. The move forms part of TikTok’s ongoing commitment to community well-being, particularly for teens and families.

The platform has been expanding safety and wellness features, including enhanced Family Pairing and the Time Away function, which allows parents to pause teens’ access. Earlier this year, TikTok also introduced a meditation feature for teens to support nightly wind-down routines.

The new Time and Well-being space replaces the previous screen time management page and provides users with several innovative tools, including:

Affirmational Journal: Users can set daily intentions with over 120 downloadable or shareable affirmation cards.

Soothing Sound Generator: Features calming sounds such as rain, waves, and white noise to help relaxation. Research indicates TikTok users are 14% more likely than non-users to use music for sleep or relaxation.

Well-being Missions: A series of short, engaging challenges designed to foster long-term healthy digital habits. Examples include an eight-week Sleep Hours Mission, daily screen time badges, and weekly screen time reviews. Users earn digital badges as positive reinforcement and can invite friends to join.

The feature was developed using insights from TikTok’s Digital Wellness Lab, research data, and feedback from the platform’s Youth Council. Emphasizing positive reinforcement over restrictions, early testing shows strong engagement, with users returning more frequently than to the previous screen time menu. The affirmation journal has emerged as the most popular feature.

TikTok will link the new space to daily screen time limits, active Sleep Hours, and Take a Break prompts to increase accessibility. The company plans to further integrate these wellness tools into the platform, making them an intuitive part of users’ everyday experience.

According to TikTok, two-thirds of teens find digital time management tools useful. By offering features that encourage mindful use, TikTok aims not only to entertain but also to support users’ well-being and foster a balanced relationship with technology.
