News Desk
Islamabad: Assistant Commissioner (Saddar) and Deputy Director Food made a surprise visit to the wholesale shops in Islamabad’s vegetable market on Monday, sealing three shops and arresting four shopkeepers for involvement in illegal business practices.
When AC (Saddar) Aneel Saeed inspected the wholesale shops for records, they failed to present the sale record of sugar stocks.
In addition, the retail shops were also inspected, and the AC directed the shopkeepers to display the rate list daily.
In a separate action, the same Assistant Commissioner transferred four shopkeepers to the police station for deliberately blocking the double road by setting up stalls.
Moreover, one shop was also sealed for renting out the footpath to stallholders, while the shopkeeper was transferred to the police station.
The AC (Saddar) said that the crackdown on illegal business practices would continue and warned the shopkeepers to refrain from such activities in the future.
This crackdown is a welcome move by the Islamabad administration and is sure to bring relief to consumers. It is important to ensure that all businesses operate in a legal and ethical manner so that consumers are taken advantage of.
