Three Rain Systems to Hit Pakistan, NDMA Issues Alert

News Desk

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of three simultaneous rain-bearing systems expected to affect different parts of Pakistan from August 23 to 30, urging citizens and local authorities to remain vigilant.

According to NDMA spokesperson Dr Syed Muhammad Tayyab Shah, the incoming systems are likely to trigger heavy rainfall, urban flooding, and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Low-lying regions of Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir face heightened flood risk, while mountainous areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan could experience landslides.

Meteorologists have further predicted widespread rains in Sindh and Balochistan between August 27 and 30. Rising water flows in rivers at Taunsa, Guddu, and Kalabagh have also raised concerns of possible flooding in nearby settlements.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, districts including Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Abbottabad, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Swabi have been put on alert for potential flash floods in local streams.

The NDMA has advised the public to exercise caution and the authorities to take immediate precautionary measures to minimize risks to life and property.
