Islamabad: The Superintendent of Police (SP) Dolphin and Patrolling of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, Kazim Naqvi, has dismissed three officers from Bhara Kahu police station after they were found guilty of harassing a woman from Chitral and demanding a bribe.

According to police reports, constables Asfand Ayaz, Nayyab, and Samiullah stopped a couple traveling by car on Shahdara Road.

The officers asked the couple to produce a marriage certificate, and when they were unable to do so, the officers allegedly demanded a bribe.

One of the officers then separated the woman from her husband and took her into the police vehicle, where she was reportedly harassed. The officer in the vehicle allegedly touched her inappropriately and forcibly took her mobile phone number.

He later continued to contact her, insisting on meeting and threatening her with serious consequences.

The incident occurred on September 17, 2024. The woman, referred to as “M,” filed a written complaint with Islamabad’s Deputy Inspector General (Operations), Syed Ali Raza, detailing the harassment and threats she received from the officers.

In her complaint, the victim explained how one officer had threatened her with dire consequences if she pursued legal action. She also provided evidence, including call recordings, to support her claims.

The officers allegedly continued harassing her through phone calls, further threatening her with physical harm.

Senior police officials launched an inquiry into the matter, during which the three officers were implicated in both the harassment and bribery. The investigation confirmed that the officers violated both legal and ethical standards.

DIG Ali Raza emphasized that the Islamabad police are committed to upholding justice and will not tolerate any misconduct within the force. He assured that strict legal action would be taken against those found guilty.

This incident underscores the ICT Police’s commitment to addressing such behavior within its ranks.
