Islamabad: A short documentary titled ‘Threads of Friendship: A Chinese Girls Adventure in Pakistan’ was screened at the Aiwan-e-Quaid auditorium to showcase the rich and diverse culture of the country captured in visuals presented by a native Chinese speaker in pure Urdu.
The 22-minute short film was a joint venture of the China Media Group (CMG) and 101 Friends of China– an Islamabad-based strategic think-tank founded by Pakistan Observer late Editor-in-Chief Zahid Malik in 2014.
CMG Urdu Service Director Noreen has successfully tried to explore various layers of the ancient, rich, diverse, and unique culture of Pakistan.
She started her journey by visiting Faisal Masjid and giving some useful information about its architecture, design and historical perspective. She also visited the Pakistan Monument, Saidpur Village, Rawal Lake, and the National Incubation Centre.
At the end of the documentary, Noreen said, “My journey has just started and soon I shall be back with more such captivating sights.”
The crowd cheered and praised her for depicting an informed, tranquil, and moderate Pakistan in her documentary. One of the audience members, Fatima, praised her grasp of Urdu and ease in using the appropriate Urdu term at the appropriate time as just fantastic.
Co-producer Fahd Gauhar Malik stated that the screening was a prime example of the power of video sharing and communication since it allowed us all to learn more about the subtleties of Pakistani traditions and customs through the eyes of our Chinese colleagues.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister Jawad Sohrab Malik mentioned that the tourist industry in Pakistan has a lot of untapped potential which Noreen and Fahd have attempted to capture in their documentary.
Noreen further added that she always encountered friendly, helpful, cooperative and welcoming Pakistanis wherever she traveled for the documentary.
