Think before forwarding 19-minute viral video, authorities warn
News Desk
A 19-minute video, allegedly showing a young couple in an intimate act, has gone viral across social media since late November.
The clip, which runs for 19 minutes and 34 seconds, continues to be widely searched and circulated.
The original source remains unknown, and it is unclear whether the video was shared deliberately or created using artificial intelligence (AI).
NCB Cyber Cell officer Amit Yadav confirmed that the viral video is AI-generated. He also warned that multiple “Part 2” and “Part 3” versions circulating online appear to be AI-created as well.
Yadav suggested using verification tools, such as the website Sightengine, to determine whether a video is AI-generated and urged the public not to forward or upload the clip in any format.
Legal Consequences of Sharing the Video
Sharing such content online can carry severe legal consequences under Indian law.
Section 67 of the IT Act: Circulating obscene material may lead to up to 3 years imprisonment and a ₹5 lakh fine.
Section 67A: Sharing sexually explicit content for the first time can result in 5 years imprisonment and a ₹10 lakh fine, while repeat offences can lead to 7 years in jail.
Additionally, sharing such videos may violate sections 292, 293, and 354C of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertain to obscene acts and privacy violations.
Officer Yadav stressed that distributing or engaging with the video infringes on privacy rights and urged everyone who encounters it to refrain from forwarding, uploading, or otherwise interacting with the content.
