The Paradox of Western Hypocrisy

Ishtiaq Ahmed

Bradford: The ongoing and escalating hostility toward Iran by the United States backed by Israel as a proxy continues to unfold as a geopolitical crisis with the potential to evolve into a wider conflict, possibly even a Third World War.

This aggressive posture, framed under the guise of global security, carries profound risks for international stability and threatens to push the global community into unprecedented devastation.

Since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, which overthrew a pro-Western monarchy in Iran, the United States has consistently perceived Iran as a threat to its interests in the Middle East. Successive U.S. administrations have painted Iran as a rogue state, an enemy of peace, democracy, and civilisation. Whether through economic sanctions, diplomatic isolation, or military threats, Washington has worked tirelessly to undermine Iran’s sovereignty and development.

One of the most contentious points in this narrative has been Iran’s nuclear energy program. Despite repeated assertions by Tehran that its nuclear ambitions are strictly peaceful and aimed at addressing domestic energy needs, the U.S. and its allies have refused to accept these claims at face value.

As a dominant voice in global institutions such as NATO and the United Nations, the U.S. has leveraged its influence to rally international opposition against Iran’s nuclear activities, often without providing conclusive evidence of any military dimension to the program.

Fuelling this campaign is Israel, which has consistently accused Iran of supporting Palestinian resistance groups that it labels as terrorist organisations. Israel sees Iran’s regional influence and support for pro-Palestinian movements as existential threats, and it has repeatedly lobbied Washington and other Western powers to adopt a hard-line stance. The U.S. and Israel have thus worked in tandem, reinforcing each other’s narratives and military postures.

The recent attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, while framed as pre-emptive self-defence, are anything but spontaneous. These actions are the culmination of decades of planning, preparation, and political manipulation.

The unrelenting genocide of Gaza and the muted response from the international community, especially from Muslim-majority nations, have emboldened Israel. Its sense of impunity has grown, fuelled by a belief that the annihilation of Gaza has cleared the path for a broader strategic ambition of weakening Iran.

This geopolitical strategy may also extend beyond Iran. One could argue that India’s recent aggression toward Pakistan was part of a wider agenda to neutralise Pakistan  with military  nuclear capability. Pakistan, the only Muslim country with a confirmed nuclear arsenal, finds itself under constant scrutiny.

The supposed mediation by the United States during Indo-Pakistani tensions appears less as a peacekeeping effort and more as a subtle reminder that even  the nuclear-armed Pakistan  must yield to American design in advance of the attack on Iran.

Today, nine countries officially possess nuclear weapons: The United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel. Of these, Pakistan stands alone as the only Muslim-majority nation in the group. Western tolerance toward the nuclear ambitions of countries like India, Israel, and even North Korea, despite its hostility, stands in stark contrast to the relentless opposition faced by Pakistan and Iran.

Why were France, the UK, and the U.S. never asked to justify their nuclear arsenals? Why was India’s nuclear development tacitly accepted, while Pakistan faced international condemnation? Why was Israel not only allowed but allegedly financed to develop nuclear arms, despite ongoing accusations of crimes against humanity in Gaza? This double standard raises a fundamental question about the ethics and consistency of global nuclear policy.

It seems evident that the West operates under a different standard when it comes to Muslim countries. While non-Muslim states are allowed to arm themselves with weapons of mass destruction under the pretext of national security or strategic deterrence, Muslim-majority countries are portrayed as irrational, dangerous, and incapable of responsible nuclear stewardship.

This glaring inconsistency, what I call the “Paradox of Western Hypocrisy”, must be recognised and addressed. The global Muslim community, if not already awakened to this reality, must come to terms with the strategic marginalisation it faces. It is imperative that Muslim nations assert their sovereignty, demand equal treatment on the international stage, and unify in the face of unjustified aggression and political manipulation.

Until the world moves beyond such hypocrisy and embraces a truly equitable international order, peace will remain an elusive ideal, and the threat of global conflict will loom large.

A powerful and fact-based analysis that exposes the West’s double standards, the weakness of the Muslim world, and the ongoing global conspiracies against Iran. The time has come for the Muslim Ummah to face these challenges with unity and strategic clarity.

I have read through this current article again bahi jaan, my extended views are as follow :

” “Ishtaiq Bahi Your analysis powerfully exposes the deep-rooted double standards that define Western foreign policy—particularly in the realms of nuclear politics and Middle East geopolitics. The ‘Paradox of Western Hypocrisy’ is not just an academic term; it reflects the lived reality of Muslim-majority nations facing strategic containment under the guise of global security. Until sovereignty is respected equally and international norms are applied without selective morality, the promise of a just and peaceful world will remain hostage to imperial interests and lopsided power structures. This is a wake-up call for the Muslim world to rethink its geopolitical posture with wisdom, unity and moral clarity.”
