Teachers Sweep IIUI ASA Election Results

Islamabad: The Academic Staff Association (ASA) annual election concluded with the Teachers Panel emerging victorious, securing 241 votes, an 88-vote lead over The Academicians, who garnered 153 votes, according to a press release issued by the Academic Staff Association on Sunday.
Dr Tariq Javed from the Faculty of Science was elected as the President of the association, while Dr Faizur Raheem from the International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIIE) assumed the role of Secretary General.
Dr Abid Masood from the Faculty of Languages and Literature and Dr Ambreen Abbasi from the Faculty of Shariah and Law were elected as Vice Presidents from the Male and Female Campuses, respectively.
Other members of the cabinet include Dr Muhammad Imran and Kiran Kiani as Joint Secretaries for Male and Female categories, respectively. Dr Ahmad Hammad takes on the role of Secretary Finance, while Ihsan Malik and Dr Sumera Saghir Ahmad assume the positions of Secretary Information for Male and Female, respectively.
In his statement following the election, Dr Tariq Javed expressed gratitude to the IIUI academic community for their overwhelming support.
He pledged full dedication to addressing outstanding issues and thanked previous cabinet members for their support, specifically mentioning Dr Naveeda Riaz, Dr Habib ur Rehman, Dr Asad Ghufran, and Dr Asma Rashid, who served last term.
Dr Javed highlighted the increased lead in this year’s election, compared to the previous year, as a testament to the community’s trust in the Teachers Panel and a validation of the continuity of policies.
The new cabinet commits to fulfilling promises and upholding the rule of law while safeguarding the university’s International and Islamic identity.
