Islamabad: Pop icon Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce have announced their engagement, confirming months of speculation about their high-profile romance.
The couple shared the news Tuesday in a joint Instagram post, writing: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” alongside photos of Kelce proposing to Swift in a flower-filled garden. Swift’s track “So High School” played in the background of the post.
Within 20 minutes, the announcement had garnered more than 1.8 million likes, while congratulations poured in from fans and even the National Football League.
Swift, 35, and Kelce, also 35, began dating in 2023 after the singer’s performance at Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs’ home ground. Kelce later revealed on his “New Heights” podcast that he had initially hoped to meet her at the concert.
Since then, Swift became a fixture at Chiefs games, while Kelce was spotted at several dates on her record-breaking Eras Tour, which grossed more than $2 billion worldwide.
Swift, a 14-time Grammy winner and the only artist to claim four Album of the Year awards, recently used Kelce’s podcast to unveil her forthcoming album The Life of a Showgirl. Scheduled for release on October 3, the album departs from her trademark heartbreak ballads. “Life is more upbeat,” Swift said, promising a joyful tone.
The engagement marks a new chapter for the superstar couple, whose relationship has captivated fans across music and sports alike.
