Taylor Swift Skips AMA Red Carpet, Sparks Online Buzz

Islamabad: Pop superstar Taylor Swift surprised both fans and the media by skipping the red carpet at the 51st Annual American Music Awards (AMAs), held Monday evening at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

The 35-year-old singer, who led this year’s AMAs with six major nominations, was noticeably absent from the pre-show red carpet segment, sparking a flurry of reactions across social media.

Fans gathered outside the venue and tuned in online, hoping to catch a glimpse of Swift, nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Favorite Female Pop Artist, among others, for her record-breaking 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. But as the red carpet event went on without her appearance, disappointment quickly turned into a trending topic online.

“Taylor Swift has arrived at #AMAs,” joked one user on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a photo of the empty red carpet. Another fan posted a popular Mean Girls meme captioned: “Me realizing Taylor Swift isn’t even showing up to the #AMAs.”

Despite not appearing on the red carpet, Swift remained a focal point throughout the evening. Already holding 40 AMA wins, she had the chance to extend her record at this year’s ceremony.

Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the event featured performances by Benson Boone, Gwen Stefani, Lainey Wilson, Blake Shelton, and Gloria Estefan. Celebrities such as Ciara, Cara Delevingne, Wayne Brady, and streamer Kai Cenat served as presenters.

The night also honored music legends, with Janet Jackson receiving the Icon Award and Sir Rod Stewart being recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
