Taylor Swift Announces Twelfth Album The Life of a Showgirl

Islamabad: Taylor Swift has confirmed her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, following a whirlwind 24 hours of fan speculation.
Rumours began on Monday morning when the singer’s marketing team posted a carousel of 12 images with the caption: “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era…’” Hours later, her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, revealed she would appear on his New Heights podcast, while Swift’s official website launched a countdown to 00:12 ET (05:12 BST).
The album’s title was revealed in a clip from Kelce’s podcast and simultaneously made available for pre-order on Swift’s website. A release date has yet to be announced.
Swift’s previous album, The Tortured Poets Department, released last year, broke Spotify’s record for the most-streamed album in a single day.
The new announcement comes after what appeared to be a quieter start to 2025 for the pop star, who wrapped up her record-breaking Eras Tour in December 2024, performing 149 shows in 53 cities. In the UK alone, she played to almost 1.2 million fans across eight nights at Wembley Stadium, contributing an estimated £1bn to the economy.
In May, Swift secured the rights to her first six albums after a long-running and highly publicised dispute over ownership. She has since re-recorded four of them as “Taylor’s Versions” and has promised the remaining two will be re-released “when the time is right.”
