In a recent interview with The Times, the 27-year-old actress shared that her family was forced to live in a cramped hotel room for over eight months after her parents filed for bankruptcy in 2013. At the time, 16-year-old Sweeney and her family had just lost their home in Washington and moved into a one-bedroom hotel room in Burbank, Los Angeles. The space lacked basic amenities such as a kitchen or balcony.

“It felt like my entire life,” she recalled. Despite the circumstances, Sweeney said she and her younger brother would joke about their situation, comparing it to The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, the Disney Channel series about two boys living in a hotel. She also spoke fondly of the hotel staff, who would often prepare grilled cheese sandwiches for the family.
