Sweet Dumplings Recipe

Islamabad: Bring home the authentic taste of a classic Middle Eastern dessert! Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside these sweet dumplings are a perfect treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

For Dumplings:

  • Lukewarm water – 1 ½ cups
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Yeast – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – ½ tsp
  • All-purpose flour – 2 ½ cups

For Sugar Syrup:

  • Water – 1 cup
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Green cardamoms – 2–3
  • Chopped pistachios – for garnish

Directions

  1. In a bowl, add lukewarm water, sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add flour and whisk until smooth.
  3. Cover and let the batter rest until it doubles in size.
  4. Heat oil and deep fry small portions of the batter until golden brown and crispy (about 5–6 minutes). Set aside.
  5. In a pot, boil water with sugar and green cardamoms until the sugar dissolves and forms a light syrup.
  6. Pour the warm sugar syrup over the fried dumplings and toss gently.
  7. Garnish with chopped pistachios.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!
