Students Forced to Work Under Sunlight at Wazirabad School

Wazirabad: A shocking case of alleged child labour at a government school in Wazirabad has sparked widespread outrage after videos emerged showing young students being forced to unload mud under the scorching sun.
The incident took place at the Government Girls High School Moti Bazar, where students from second and third grades were reportedly made to perform manual labour during school hours. Visuals circulating on social media show children in school uniforms, visibly distressed, as they haul mud from a trolley in extreme heat — a scene that has triggered condemnation from the public and child rights advocates.
According to sources within the school, the administration compelled the students to unload the mud due to the absence of regular labour staff, who were said to be on leave. “There were no workers available today, so just a little mud was poured by the children,” a school official commented, appearing to downplay the severity of the incident.
However, eyewitnesses and local residents described the act as a clear violation of child rights, labelling it as forced child labour. “This is completely unacceptable. Instead of being in classrooms, these young children are being treated like workers,” said one resident who filmed the incident and shared it online.
The footage has drawn strong criticism across social media platforms, with activists demanding immediate action against those responsible. Child rights groups have called on the provincial education department to launch an inquiry and ensure accountability.
As public pressure mounts, education authorities are expected to respond to the growing calls for justice and reform in school management practices.
