Rawalpindi: The Deputy District Health Officer (DDHO) of Rawal Town, in collaboration with health inspectors, carried out a major anti-quackery operation targeting unlicensed health practitioners in Main Raja Bazar and City Saddar Road near Fawara Chowk on Friday.

The crackdown focused particularly on street dentists who were providing unregulated and potentially dangerous medical services. During the operation, officials confiscated equipment and medicines being used by these unauthorized practitioners, effectively halting their operations. Three First Information Reports (FIRs) were lodged against individuals involved in illegal street dentistry.

“This operation sends a strong message that there will be zero tolerance for illegal medical practices,” said Dr. Waqar, spokesperson for the District Health Authority.

He added that the health department will carry out regular monitoring visits to ensure such practices do not re-emerge. “These measures are crucial for protecting public health and preventing harm caused by unqualified individuals,” he noted.

The DDHO reaffirmed the department’s commitment to eradicating quackery and urged citizens to report any suspicious or unauthorized medical activity. “Public cooperation is essential in our efforts to ensure safe and reliable healthcare for all,” the DDHO said.
