AC City Detains 21 Professional Beggars
The Assistant Commissioner (AC) City on Tuesday shifted 21 professional beggars to Kohsar Police Station following a targeted operation in Blue Area and Sector F-7 after receiving multiple citizen complaints.
The district administration intensified its crackdown on organised begging after reports of increased activity in busy commercial zones. Acting on these complaints, AC City teams conducted coordinated checks in Blue Area and F-7, where beggars are often seen approaching pedestrians and motorists.
During the operation, 21 individuals identified as professional beggars were taken into custody for further legal action. Officials said the drive specifically targets organised groups that exploit children and vulnerable persons for income.
The AC City office stated that the campaign aims to curb begging in Islamabad and keep commercial districts safe and accessible. Authorities noted that professional beggars frequently shift between sectors, making public reporting vital for prompt action.
Teams patrolled key spots and conducted checks based on complaints received via helplines and social media platforms. The administration said such operations will continue daily, with strict action planned against organised begging networks.
