Spurious Gram Powder Factory Unearthed in Faisalabad

Faisalabad: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Saturday uncovered a factory involved in the production of counterfeit ‘Besan’ (gram powder) and arrested a suspect while seizing various items from the unit.

Tariq Mehmood Gill, Additional Director of PFA, stated that a raid was conducted on Jhang Road in Partab Nagar following a tip-off, where the factory was found manufacturing spurious ‘Besan’ by mixing maize and its waste material with chemicals and artificial color.

During the raid, the PFA team confiscated 4,200 kilograms of maize and its materials, along with 1,600 kilograms of fake gram powder, a grinding machine, and other equipment. The arrested individual was handed over to the police, and a case has been registered against him.
