Spotify Video Podcasts Coming to Netflix in 2026

News Desk

New Work: Spotify announced on Tuesday that it will bring select video podcasts to Netflix next year, marking a major expansion of its video content and advertising reach.

The collaboration will initially feature a curated mix of sports, culture, lifestyle, and true crime podcasts from Spotify Studios and The Ringer US audiences will gain access to the new content in early 2026, with international rollout planned for later.

Spotify said additional genres and studios will be added over time.

Strategic Shift Toward Video and Monetization

The partnership reflects Spotify’s ongoing strategy to pivot toward video content, aiming to compete with platforms like YouTube.

Spotify introduced tools allowing podcasters to upload video versions of their shows, coupled with monetization features through its Partner Program. Creators can earn from ad revenue and audience engagement tools such as polls, Q&As, and comments.

This video-focused approach follows a restructuring of Spotify’s podcast division in 2023, which included layoffs and the departure of former Chief Content and Business Officer Dawn Ostroff.

Despite significant investments in exclusive podcasts and studios such as Parcast, The Ringer, and Gimlet Media, returns fell short of expectations.

Rising Popularity of Video Podcasts

As of Q2 2025, Spotify hosts over 430,000 video podcasts, with video consumption growing 20 times faster than audio-only shows since 2024. More than 350 million users streamed video content on the platform — a 65% year-over-year increase.

Roman Wasenmüller, Spotify’s VP and Head of Podcasts, said, “This partnership marks a new chapter for podcasting. Together with Netflix, we’re expanding discovery, helping creators reach new audiences, and giving fans around the world more choice and access to the stories they love.”

Initial Shows on Netflix

Top-performing podcasts included in the initial rollout will include:

  1. The Bill Simmons Podcast
  2. The Rewatchables
  3. The Ringer NBA Show
  4. The Ringer NFL Show
  5. The Mismatch
  6. Fairway Rollin’
  7. The Ringer F1 Show
  8. The Big Picture
  9. The Recipe Club
  10. The Dave Chang Show
  11. Dissect
  12. Conspiracy Theories
  13. Serial Killers

Market Impact and Outlook

Spotify has not disclosed financial details of the agreement, including revenue-sharing terms. Despite recent declines in ad-supported revenue, the company remains optimistic about long-term growth through video, citing rising engagement and monetization potential.

The partnership is expected to broaden Spotify’s audience while offering Netflix a wider range of streaming content, potentially reshaping the podcast-to-video market.
