Spinner Ahmed to to Begin New Innings With Marriage

News Desk

Karachi: Rising Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed is set to embark on a new journey off the field as he prepares to get married tomorrow (Saturday) in Karachi.

Family sources confirmed that Abrar has already been nikkahfied (religiously married), with only the rukhsati (bride’s departure) ceremony left.

The wedding will be held on October 4, while the valima (reception) is scheduled for October 6.

Abrar, widely recognized for his unique wicket-taking celebrations, recently grabbed headlines during the Asia Cup 2025 not just for his performances but also for a light-hearted exchange with Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga.

During Pakistan’s Super Four clash against the Islanders in Abu Dhabi, Abrar dismissed Hasaranga and cheekily mimicked his celebration. Hasaranga responded in kind by imitating Abrar’s trademark pose after dismissing Pakistani batters Saim Ayub and captain Salman Ali Agha.

What began as playful banter on the field ended in a display of mutual respect. In a viral post-match video, the two spinners were seen laughing, hugging, and shaking hands, proving that sporting camaraderie easily outshines competitive intensity.

Pakistan eventually sealed the game with a five-wicket win, climbing to second spot on the points table.

Now, with the Asia Cup behind him, Abrar Ahmed turns his focus from cricket to his personal milestone—marking October as a month to remember, both on and off the field.
