Rawalpindi: In a new effort to combat overloading in rural areas, the City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi, in collaboration with the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), has established a special squad as part of the “Safe Punjab” initiative.
According to a CTP spokesman, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima announced that the squad will be monitored by a senior traffic warden, following numerous complaints of overloading on rural highways.
The squad’s primary focus will be on enforcing traffic laws, checking vehicle fitness, and verifying driving licenses and route permits.
The CTO highlighted that the initiative aims to prevent road accidents and enhance public safety. The squad will focus particularly on roads like Kahuta and Kallar Syedan, where overloading has been a significant issue.
This move is expected to reduce the risk of road accidents related to overloading and improve overall road safety in the region.
