Johannesburg: Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Thursday unveiled the local organising committee for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, confirming that the majority of matches will be staged across South Africa, with Zimbabwe and Namibia also set to host games.
CSA announced that 44 of the tournament’s 54 matches will be played at eight South African venues — Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, East London and Paarl — while Zimbabwe and Namibia will share the remaining 10 fixtures.

This will be the first men’s World Cup on African soil since the 2003 edition, jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya. Since then, South Africa has staged two women’s global events: the 2005 50-over World Cup and the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup, where the Proteas finished as runners-up to Australia.
Former South African finance minister Trevor Manuel has been appointed to lead the organising committee.
“CSA’s vision is to stage a global, inspiring event which will reflect the face of South Africa — diverse, inclusive, and united,” said CSA chairperson Pearl Maphoshe.
The 2027 edition will be the second time the men’s World Cup returns to the African continent, marking a significant moment for cricket in the region.
