Sonakshi Sinha Slams Sensationalist News Coverage
News Desk
Islamabad: Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has openly criticized Indian television news channels for their sensationalist coverage of the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions.
In a candid Instagram post, she took aim at mainstream media outlets, accusing them of favoring drama over factual reporting, particularly when covering sensitive military developments.
“Our television news channels are a joke,” she wrote. “I’m tired of the exaggerated visuals, over-the-top effects, and constant yelling. What are you even doing? Just report the truth as it is.”
Her remarks were directed at the hyper-dramatized presentation styles—complete with explosive graphics, loud sound effects, and emotionally charged commentary—that frequently accompany news reports on geopolitical and military issues. She argued that this kind of coverage spreads panic and misinformation among an already anxious public.
Sonakshi urged her followers to steer clear of what she described as “crap passed off as news” and instead turn to reliable and credible news sources.
“Stop sensationalizing WAR and scaring people who are already worried. Please, use proper news sources and stick to them,” she added.
Her comments come shortly after India’s Ministry of Defence issued an advisory to media outlets and digital platforms, warning against live coverage of military operations, troop movements, and strategic planning. The ministry emphasized that such reporting poses a threat to national security, as it can be exploited by adversaries.
As tensions in the region remain high, Sonakshi’s appeal for responsible journalism has struck a chord and is gaining significant traction across social media.
