Snowfall, Rain Likely in KP, GB, AJK, Balochistan
News Desk
Islamabad: A shallow to active western weather disturbance is expected to affect northern and western parts of the country from December 13 to 15, bringing light to moderate rainfall in plains and snowfall in hilly and high-altitude areas, according to a weather advisory.
The advisory said areas likely to be affected include Kohistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and parts of Balochistan.
During the period, mountainous regions — particularly Kohistan, upper KP, high-altitude areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and hilly areas of AJK — are expected to receive the highest snowfall, increasing the risk of road closures and travel disruptions.
Quetta, Ziarat and parts of northwestern Balochistan may also receive isolated rainfall and snowfall over nearby hills.
From December 16 to 18, the disturbance is expected to weaken; however, very cold conditions will persist across northern areas. Authorities have warned of icy and slippery roads in higher elevations, along with the possibility of isolated snow showers in parts of the Northern Areas.
Residents and travelers have been advised to take necessary precautions, particularly in mountainous regions, where weather conditions may impact road access and mobility.
