Six Killed, Over 130,000 Displaced in Malaysia Floods

Kuala Lumpur: Severe flooding in Malaysia has claimed six lives, with the latest fatalities involving two elderly individuals who drowned in Kelantan state while tending to livestock, authorities confirmed on Monday.

According to the country’s Social Welfare Department, a total of 134,524 flood victims have been evacuated to 613 relief centers as of 11 a.m. local time. The eastern states of Kelantan and Terengganu remain the worst affected by the disaster.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government has allocated additional funds for post-flood recovery measures, which are set to commence in mid-December.

In a separate statement, the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry revealed plans to provide assistance to farmers impacted by the floods. Measures under consideration include financial aid and support for post-flood agricultural recovery.

The government continues to monitor the situation closely, with efforts underway to ensure the safety and welfare of displaced citizens.
