Situational: Trump Promises to “Make America Great Again”
Ishtiaq Ahmed
Bradford: Donald Trump , the self claimed saviour is projected to return to the White House to ‘ Make America Great Again’.
Although, it would be a few days before the final outcome of the US presidential elections is confirmed but Trump is projected to achieve the magic number of 270 electoral college votes to return to the White House, the first person ever to do so in the US presidential history after losing 2020 to Biden and missing out on the second term .
Americans have voted for isolationism, protectionism, misogyny and mass deportations of immigrants to put bread on their tables as economic and immigration dominated the election campaign.
The tremors of the US election outcome will be felt far a field beyond the borders of the USA and no less amongst the NATO bloc.
Trump is not favourably disposed towards NATO’s value to American interests and his return will be a matter of deep consternation for the NATO allies particularly if he lives up to his election promise of ending the Ukrainian war in 24 hours on his return and entering into negotiations with Russia.

Trump is also a vowed enemy of China’s growing trading reach and has sworn to stop this with heavy reactionary protectionist trade policy to lessen the reliance of Americans on Chinese goods and products.
Trump is also dubbed as the ‘most pro-Israel’ US president ever. He has attacked Biden and Harris for holding back Israel from achieving its aims in Gaza.
He was responsible for the landmark foreign policy move to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The decision broke a decades-long bipartisan policy for US presidents to abstain from making the assertion.
Trump received, and still continues to receive, major backing from the US evangelical Zionist movement. The Christian Zionist movement is a major force in conservative politics in America and Trump’s Republican Party is a major recipient of it.
Trump takes a dim view of pro Palestine public protests on the streets of America and has promised to clampdown on these to stop any criticism of Israel despite the fact that the legal experts and human rights groups have described the mass murder In Gaza as genocide.
Trump has already promised to bring back a version of the Muslim ban, and this time would extend the immigration ban to include an “ideological screening” to weed out immigrants who sympathise with the Palestinian group Hamas.
The campaign promises that Trump has made for a second term are reflective of his previous remarks in 2016, when he said “Islam hates us”.
The world stands waiting in anticipation how the second term of the USA’s most unpredictable maverick President unfolds.
