Sindh Government Takes Green Initiative

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has banned the use of disposable plastic water bottles in all government offices, beginning with the CM House, in a major step towards environmental sustainability.
This initiative was enacted immediately following a notification issued on August 16. In line with this policy, the Chief Minister instructed his secretariat to replace plastic water bottles with glass jugs during meetings at the CM House. Footage from Sunday displayed glass jugs and cups on meeting tables, underscoring the government’s efforts to curb plastic pollution.
During a meeting, Syed Murad urged participants to eliminate plastic bottles and other disposable plastic items from their offices and public spaces. He advocated for sustainable alternatives, such as glass and biodegradable materials, to protect the environment and promote public health.
“Our drains, rivers, ponds, and seas are being choked by plastic waste which is endangering marine life and polluting our environment,” stressed CM Shah.
“We must adopt environmentally friendly practices to safeguard our natural resources and ensure a cleaner, healthier future,” he reiterated.
Murad Ali pledged further action to address environmental degradation. He outlined plans to tackle air pollution across the province, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to comprehensive environmental reform.
The introduction of glass jugs at the CM House represents a crucial move towards a greener Sindh, setting an example for other government institutions and the public to combat plastic pollution.
