Sindh Faces Average of 260 New HIV Cases Monthly

Karachi: Sindh province has witnessed an alarming trend, with approximately 260 individuals diagnosed with HIV every month.

This surge is particularly notable in areas such as Larkana and its neighboring districts, along with Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, and Karachi.

Officials disclosed that approximately 10-15 percent of these cases involve children.

The health authorities have indicated that from January to May, over 1,300 cases of HIV have been reported, with children accounting for 10 to 15 percent of these cases. 

The majority of HIV infections have been identified in Larkana, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, and Karachi.

Specifically, Sindh reported 257 HIV cases in January and 256 in February. March saw an increase with 258 new cases, followed by 239 cases in April and 293 cases in May.

In Mirpur Khas alone, 27 children have been diagnosed with HIV between January and June.
