SHO, ASI Booked for Misuse of Powers

Muzaffargarh: Two police officers, including a Station House Officer (SHO) and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), have been booked for misuse of their powers.

According to police sources, a complaint was filed by Sumaira with the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge.

In her application, Sumaira alleged that SHO Aftab Shabir of Shahjamal Police Station and ASI Riaz Ahmed Laghari had illegally arrested her brother, Muhammad Shahbaz, on August 31. Sumaira stated that her brother had no criminal record and was not named in any case, but the officers detained and tortured him unlawfully.

Following the court’s directives, a bailiff recovered Muhammad Shahbaz from police custody. The police failed to provide evidence of his detention or any criminal case against him. Consequently, a case has been registered against the officers. However, no arrests have been made yet.
