Shaheen Chowk Underpass to Open by Dec 31

News Desk

Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday visited the Shaheen Chowk Underpass and directed the concerned authorities to ensure its opening for traffic by December 31.

During the visit, the minister inspected the ongoing finishing work at the site, including carpeting of the underpass, and reviewed the overall pace of construction.

He also examined landscaping and horticulture work in the surrounding area and instructed the relevant authorities to plant additional trees to enhance the area’s aesthetic appeal and environmental sustainability.

Emphasizing timely completion, Mohsin Naqvi said the underpass must be opened to traffic by the set deadline, noting that the project would permanently resolve long-standing traffic congestion at Shaheen Chowk.

He added that the underpass would significantly improve traffic flow and provide relief to commuters.

During the visit, the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) briefed the minister on the project’s progress, including the current work pace and remaining stages required for completion.
