Seven-Day Anti-Polio Drive Kicks Off, ACs Leading Charge In Islamabad

Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration launched a seven-day anti-polio vaccination campaign on Tuesday, aimed at children under the age of five, with assistant commissioners leading the charge.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon is leading the campaign, with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) East Usman Ashraf overseeing the polio campaign teams in different areas of the city, ICT Spokesman Dr Abdullah Tabassum said.
On the campaign’s second day, Usman Ashraf visited the polio campaign teams in different areas of Islamabad to assess their progress and ensure that all eligible children are being vaccinated.
The polio workers, polio teams and other teams are going door to door in Islamabad to administer the polio vaccine to children under the age of five.
Polio is a crippling and incurable disease, but it can be prevented with two drops of the polio vaccine, Ashraf stated, urging parents to cooperate with the polio workers and give two drops to their children.
The anti-polio campaign is a critical step in Pakistan’s efforts to eradicate the disease which is being supported by the World Health Organization and other international partners.
ACs lead anti-polio campaign
In a bid to ensure the success of the ongoing anti-polio campaign, all the Assistant Commissioners of Islamabad, accompanied by polio teams, visited different areas under their jurisdictions on the directions of the DC Islamabad.
On Tuesday, Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Aneel Saeed attended the morning assembly of the polio teams at RHC Bahara Kahu and reviewed the written targets, N/As and denial coverage.
The Assistant Commissioner City also held a morning assembly with the polio teams to discuss the next day’s planning and grievance redressal.
AC Nelore checked the assembly points of the DHA and Rout Polio teams in the morning and issued the necessary instructions for further improvement of arrangements. AC Rural attended the morning meeting at DHSF XI.
ACs are supervising the campaign on a daily basis to ensure that all children under the age of five are vaccinated against the poliovirus.
