Security tightened at churches in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Police have tightened security at churches across the city following the directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani.
According to a police spokesperson, comprehensive security arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of worshippers.
Divisional SPs, SDPOs and other officers are inspecting security duties and briefing personnel deployed at churches. Elite Force commandos and police mobile teams are conducting patrols in various areas, while special pickets and additional police personnel have been deployed across the twin cities.
Entry into churches is being allowed only after thorough body searches, while officers on duty have been directed to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on the surroundings and suspicious individuals.
CPO Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani said the security of people coming for worship would be ensured while treating them with courtesy. He added that all available resources were being utilized to protect minority rights, maintain law and order and promote interfaith harmony.
Three suspects in murder case arrested by Rawat Police
Rawat Police have arrested three suspects wanted in a murder and attempted murder case during an operation carried out in the area.
According to a police spokesperson, the suspects had allegedly stormed into a house two months ago over a dispute related to a pathway and attacked the residents with gunfire, axes and sticks.
As a result of the attack, one person was killed while eight others, including three women, were injured.
The suspects had gone into hiding after the incident but were later traced and arrested through technical and human intelligence.
Police said that four accomplices involved in the case had already been arrested earlier.
SP Saddar Anum Sher said the arrested suspects would be challaned in court with solid evidence to ensure strict punishment.
