Security Threats, Polluted Parks Deter Karachi’s Fitness Efforts
News Desk
Islamabad: Living a healthy lifestyle has become increasingly challenging for Karachi residents, with various factors hindering their ability to stay active and fit.
Security concerns are a major issue, as many citizens feel unsafe walking in public areas due to the threat of robberies, leading them to avoid streets and pathways that could otherwise support healthy activities.
The poor condition of local parks also limits opportunities for exercise. Out of 46 parks managed by the Karachi Municipal Corporation and 550 under the Town Municipal Corporation, the majority are neglected, with litter and waste creating an unwelcoming environment.
Many residents find it difficult to walk or even relax in these polluted spaces, leading them to avoid what were once popular spots for outdoor activities.
Additionally, the increasing reliance on technology and the fast-paced lifestyle of Karachi’s population have contributed to a decline in physical activity, making it harder for many to prioritize their health in daily routines.
