Makkah: In a show of strength and preparedness, Saudi Arabia conducted a high-profile security parade and military drills in Makkah ahead of Hajj 2025, underscoring its commitment to the safety and well-being of millions of pilgrims expected to arrive for the annual Islamic pilgrimage.

The exercises, held under the supervision of Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, featured coordinated displays by Hajj security forces, including tactical formations, helicopter maneuvers, and simulated emergency response operations.

The drills highlighted the readiness of the Kingdom’s security apparatus to address potential threats and maintain order during one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.

Lt. General Mohammed Al-Bassami, Director of Public Security and Chairman of the Hajj Security Committee, emphasized the centrality of pilgrim safety.

“Hajj security is a red line,” he said. “Our forces are fully prepared and determined to confront any disruptions. We are committed to ensuring pilgrims perform their rituals in peace, comfort, and safety.”

Over 40,000 security personnel will be stationed across key Hajj sites, including Makkah, Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah. The comprehensive security plan includes enhanced surveillance, strict traffic management, and rapid emergency response measures.

The annual security parade not only demonstrates operational readiness but also reflects the immense logistical efforts required to manage the influx of over a million worshippers to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

Officials noted that, in addition to traditional security measures, the Kingdom is deploying advanced technologies such as drones, facial recognition systems, and AI-powered monitoring tools to detect and respond swiftly to any suspicious activity.

With the first groups of international pilgrims already arriving, authorities have intensified coordination across various government bodies, including health, civil defence, and transportation departments, to ensure a seamless Hajj experience. The pilgrimage is expected to commence in mid-June.
