Rawalpindi: Security forces killed 13 militants linked to the Indian proxy group Fitna Al Khwarij during a series of intelligence-based operations conducted in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out in five separate engagements in Bajaur, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber and South Waziristan districts.
During an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur district, security forces engaged a militant hideout and killed five militants after an intense exchange of fire.

The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.
It added that the operations are part of ongoing efforts to counter emerging security challenges along Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan.
Security forces remain determined to safeguard the country’s borders and eliminate the threat of terrorism, the statement said.
Sanitisation operations are also underway in the affected areas to ensure that no other militants linked to the group remain active. The military said the counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue until terrorism backed by foreign elements is eradicated from the country.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for their successful operations against militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a statement issued by the President’s Secretariat, he commended the professionalism and capabilities demonstrated by the security forces during operations in Bajaur, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber and South Waziristan.
The president said the actions against militants linked to the Indian proxy Fitna Al Khwarij were important for maintaining peace and stability in the country.
