Second Journalist Killed This Year In Ghotki

News Desk

Islamabad: A local journalist, Bachal Ghuniyo, was gunned down by unidentified assailants in the Rawanti area of Ghotki district, Sindh, on Tuesday.

The attack occurred while Ghuniyo, who was associated with Awaz TV, was visiting his fields. After the shooting, the gunmen fled the scene, leaving Ghuniyo mortally wounded. His body was subsequently taken to Ubauro Hospital for post-mortem.

The killing of Ghuniya has sparked outrage and concern, as it marks the second murder of a journalist in Ghotki this year.

In May, another journalist, Nasrullah Gadani, was shot near Mirpur Mathelo in a similar incident, which led to his death after he succumbed to his injuries in a Karachi hospital.

Local authorities and Ghuniyo’s family suspect that the murder might be connected to previous personal conflicts. The police have launched an investigation, and Sindh’s Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident, ordering immediate action to apprehend the culprits.

The rising incidents of violence against journalists in Pakistan, particularly in Ghotki, have raised alarms both locally and internationally, highlighting the dangerous conditions under which media professionals operate in the region. The Sindh government has vowed to intensify efforts to combat criminal activities in the area.
