Islamabad: Prominent Indian Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik arrived in Islamabad on Monday morning for a 15-day visit to Pakistan, reported a private news channel.
His tour, organized at the special invitation of the Pakistani government, will include lectures in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
Dr Naik was greeted at Islamabad International Airport by Prime Minister Youth Program head Rana Mashhood, along with Parliamentary Secretary for Religious Affairs Shamsher Ali Mazari and officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, including Syed Dr Attaur Rehman.
During his visit, which kicks off on October 5 in Karachi and concludes in Islamabad on October 20, Dr Naik will address several high-profile events in all three cities.
His lectures are expected to draw large crowds, including scholars and members of the general public eager to engage with his teachings.
Security was tightened at the airport, where Dr Naik was warmly received by passengers before being escorted to his destination.
On September 20, Dr Naik’s official Facebook page confirmed the details of his tour, which will begin with a lecture at Bagh-e-Quaid in Karachi, near Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum.
His first lecture on October 5 will focus on “The Purpose of Our Life,” while his son, Dr Fariq Naik, will deliver a lecture on October 6 titled “Kya Quran ko Samajh Kar Parhna Zaroori Hai?” (Is it necessary to understand the Quran while reciting?).
While Dr Naik has announced the dates for his lectures in Lahore and Islamabad—October 12 and 13 in Lahore, and October 19 and 20 in Islamabad—specific venues and topics for these sessions are yet to be revealed. Dr Fariq Naik will also accompany his father throughout the tour and deliver lectures in all three cities.
