Dera Ismail Khan: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced that the bank accounts of unemployed women are being opened along with those of men on an equality basis so that they could be provided with interest-free loans up to Rs 0.5 million to make unemployed women productive citizens.

Addressing a one-day seminar titled ‘Women Bankability and Banking on Equality’, SBP Dera Ismail Khan Deputy Chief Manager Fazal Muqeem said that the SBP is endeavouring to provide unemployed women interest-free loans for starting large-scale businesses in order to ensure their economic stability.

The seminar was organised by the SBP at the Government Polytechnic Institute for Women (GPIW) of Dera Ismail Khan on September 24.

Women would be able to support their parents and families by starting their own businesses, and providing good education to their children, added Fazal Muqeem.

Both the wealthy and the poor are simultaneously impacted by the current inflation surge. Due to country’s severely constrained economic resources, the poor find it difficult to handle the costs of daily living, Fazal continued.

Amidst the country’s limited employment opportunities, the best way to deal with the problem is to start your own business, added Deputy Chief Manager.

Assistant Director Muhammad Zubair said that today’s era is digital mobile apps, and citizens must take advantage of this facility. The citizens should become income tax filers which would make them avoid many taxes, he mentioned.

GPIW Principal Sara Khan expressed the hope that such useful seminars would be organised in the future so that poor and eligible women like Dera Ismail Khan could benefit. APP
