Islamabad: As tensions continue to rise, newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) held a crucial phone call to discuss the unfolding crisis and explore avenues for peace and stability in the region.

According to official statements from both governments, Crown Prince MBS voiced concern over what he described as Israel’s “deliberate attempt” to provoke Iran and draw the United States into a broader conflict.

“Israel is trying to drag the US into a wider war with Iran,” the Crown Prince warned, urging Tehran to act with restraint and strategic foresight.

The Saudi leader emphasized the importance of Islamic unity and expressed strong support for Iran’s right to self-defense. “The Muslim Ummah stands united with Iran against aggression.

At the same time, we hope for a path that prevents further escalation,” MBS added, marking a significant tonal shift in Riyadh’s public stance toward Iran.

In response, President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace and cooperation. “From my first day in office, we have prioritised peace and stability in the Islamic world,” he stated.

He accused Israel of deliberately sabotaging regional diplomacy, saying, “Every time we move closer to dialogue and progress, Israel resorts to violence to derail it.”

Pezeshkian thanked MBS for his outreach and highlighted the evolving Saudi role in Middle Eastern diplomacy.

The leaders’ conversation signals a renewed commitment by Tehran and Riyadh to maintain regional dialogue and cooperation—especially vital as the region teeters on the brink of further conflict.
