Islamabad: The personal life of former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has come under intense public scrutiny in recent weeks, as cryptic social media activity by his wife, Sannia Ashfaq, has sparked widespread speculation about a possible separation.
The rumours have been compounded by an alleged link between the cricketer and social media influencer Naila Raja—claims that Raja has strongly denied.

It all began when Sannia Ashfaq took to Instagram to share a poignant message that many interpreted as a veiled reference to her troubled relationship.
“Silence should not be considered as consent or lack of evidence. I am just choosing the right time after thinking carefully,” she wrote.
The message, though brief, was enough to ignite a storm of speculation, particularly as it followed an earlier emotional post shared shortly after the birth of her son, Zayan.
“I carried you alone in my womb for 9 months. May Allah give me more strength for the journey ahead,” she had posted, notably omitting any mention of Imad.
The deliberate exclusion of her husband’s name raised eyebrows, with social media users interpreting it as a subtle but telling sign of estrangement.
A closer look at Sannia’s Instagram profile revealed that she had removed all photographs with Imad and updated her bio, which once identified her as “Imad Wasim’s wife,” to now simply read: “Anaya Imad and Rayan Imad’s mother.”
Controversy and Clarification
Compounding the issue was a viral video that emerged online showing Imad walking alongside a woman in London. Though the footage was inconclusive, many viewers claimed the woman was Naila Raja, a popular influencer with a significant online following.
As rumours swirled, Naila Raja found herself at the center of the controversy and took to Instagram to issue a firm rebuttal.

“Hello, I usually don’t respond to rumours or speculation, but this has gone too far,” she wrote. “I shared that story [with Imad Wasim] on my own Instagram. It wasn’t hidden or secretive. How can a harmless Instagram story be the reason for someone’s divorce?”
She also addressed the viral video, explaining that it was filmed outside an optical store and taken out of context.
“The video was zoomed in from one angle, deliberately ignoring the rest of the group who were present with us at the time,” she said.
“I Am Also a Woman”
In her statement, Naila pushed back strongly against the vitriol she said she and her family had received since the allegations surfaced.
“I understand that being a public figure comes with criticism, but I am also a woman. Please stop dragging me into something that has nothing to do with me.”
She said her family members—including her brother—had been targeted with abusive messages, accused of failing to “control” her and protect their “honour.” Raja didn’t mince words when addressing this toxic double standard:
“Why is honour always associated with a woman’s actions? Have we created a society where a woman’s dignity is constantly under scrutiny while her achievements are overlooked?”
She concluded by urging introspection into the societal norms that perpetuate misogyny.
“Then we wonder why honour-based violence still exists. We’ve normalised judging others without context just to feel morally superior.”
A History of Public Allegations
While Imad Wasim has remained publicly silent throughout the unfolding controversy, this isn’t the first time the cricketer’s personal life has been mired in rumour. In a prior episode, he was accused of being involved with an Afghan woman—a claim that similarly gained traction online but was never substantiated.
This time, however, the context is different. Sannia’s emotionally raw posts, combined with the timing—coming just after the birth of their third child—have intensified public condemnation. Critics have accused Imad of neglecting his partner during a critical and vulnerable phase of motherhood.
