Samsung’s Cheapest 5G Phone Just Got a 120Hz Boost
News Desk
Islamabad: Samsung has quietly begun rolling out its next ultra-budget 5G smartphone as it reshuffles its broader launch schedule.
If Samsung’s original plans had held, the Galaxy S26 series would be preparing for a debut later this month. However, late-stage changes to the flagship lineup appear to have delayed that launch by roughly a month. To fill the gap, Samsung seems to be leaning on its affordable Galaxy A series—and the first sign of that strategy is the newly announced Galaxy A07 5G.
The Galaxy A07 5G closely resembles last year’s Galaxy A06 5G, with an almost unchanged design and hardware foundation. The most noticeable upgrade comes in the display: the phone features a 6.7-inch IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, up from 90Hz on its predecessor.
Resolution remains the same, as does the U-shaped notch, but Samsung says the panel can now reach up to 800 nits of brightness in high-brightness mode.

Software support is another major improvement. The Galaxy A07 5G launches with One UI 8 based on Android 16 and is promised six OS upgrades, potentially carrying it through Android 22.
This is a significant step up from the four years of updates promised for the Galaxy A06 5G, and even exceeds the software support commitments of some recent flagships from competing brands.
Internally, the phone sticks with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. Samsung has dropped the 64GB storage option this year, offering a single 128GB variant instead, with microSD expansion supported up to 2TB. Powering the device is the same 6,000 mAh battery as before, along with 25W wired charging.
Design changes are subtle. The Galaxy A07 5G introduces a sleeker side frame, a new camera island around the rear sensors, and a more vibrant light purple color option. The camera hardware itself remains unchanged, led by a 50MP primary sensor.
For now, availability appears limited. The Galaxy A07 5G is listed on Samsung’s Thailand website and seems restricted to select Asian markets. While the Galaxy A06 5G was sold in the US, Samsung has not yet confirmed whether the new model will launch there.
Pricing in Thailand is set at 5,499 baht (around $175) for the 4GB RAM model and 5,999 baht (around $190) for the 6GB version. That places the phone close to Galaxy A16 territory, suggesting that if and when it reaches the US, pricing could be adjusted downward. Samsung has not announced a wider release timeline.
