Sahil Adeem’s Comments on Women’s Knowledge Stir Up Debate
News Desk
Islamabad: Internet personality Sahil Adeem has sparked widespread outrage due to controversial remarks made during his appearance on a private TV show alongside Khalilur Rehman Qamar.
Adeem’s comments, particularly regarding women, have drawn significant criticism.
He claimed that a vast majority of women in Pakistan lack awareness, stating, “You will find 25 men out of 100 illiterate, 50 men who are average in education, and 25 educated.
However, if you take a sample of 100 women, 95 of them will be unaware of everything. This is the reality.”
These remarks were made in response to a question about using mosques to advance women’s rights.
Adeem argued that women are aware of superficial matters like dance, cooking, and makeup but lack awareness of Islam, questioning how mosques could engage them.
During a Q&A session, a participant named Azba Abdullah demanded an apology from Sahil Adeem for his offensive comments towards women, which had gone viral on social media.
Instead of apologizing, Adeem diverted the conversation by questioning the participant on Islamic terminology.
When reminded that the discussion was about women’s rights, not religious doctrine, Adeem insisted it was his duty in Islam to call out ignorance.
He reiterated his views and suggested conducting a survey to support his assertions.
Adeem sarcastically apologized, remarking, “I apologize for my daughter’s ignorance,” referring to Azba Abdullah. She criticized him for evading the issue.
The incident has stirred controversy and prompted a significant backlash online.
