Safari Train to Bring Delegation to Mohenjo-daro on Feb 1

Larkana: A special Mohenjo-daro Safari Train will arrive in Larkana on February 1, carrying a delegation of tourists and journalists as part of an initiative to highlight the global significance of the ancient Indus Valley civilisation site.

The special train will depart from Karachi Cantonment Railway Station on January 31 and travel overnight, reaching Sehwan Sharif Railway Station the following morning. The delegation, comprising around 100 participants and led by Managing Director Sindh Culture and Tourism Syed Fayaz Ali Shah, will visit the shrine of renowned Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

Following the visit, the delegation will proceed to Larkana aboard the same special train. A cultural programme, including a musical night featuring prominent artists, has been arranged for the guests at the Sambara Hotel.

On February 1, the delegation will travel by bus to Mohenjo-daro, where they will visit key heritage sites including the Stupa, the Great Bath, the museum, and other archaeological remains. The special safari train is scheduled to depart for Karachi at 2:00pm the same day.

Speaking to APP, Sambara Hotel Manager Imtiaz Shah said the safari train would arrive at Larkana Railway Station in the early morning hours. He added that the delegation includes tourists, journalists and representatives from various walks of life, with the visit aimed at promoting Mohenjo-daro’s historical and cultural importance at the international level.
