Leicester: Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal etched his name in the history books on Tuesday, delivering a record-breaking performance in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) during Pakistan Champions’ clash against Australia Champions at Grace Road.
Ajmal produced the best bowling figures in WCL history, claiming 6 wickets for just 16 runs in 3.5 overs, becoming the first-ever bowler to register a five-wicket haul in the tournament’s history.
The previous best figures were held by Fidel Edwards of West Indies Champions, who took 4 for 11 against England Champions earlier in the season.

Saeed Ajmal (Pakistan Champions) – 6/16 vs Australia Champions
Fidel Edwards (West Indies Champions) – 4/11 vs England Champions
Aaron Phangiso (South Africa Champions) – 4/13 vs Australia Champions
Stuart Meaker (England Champions) – 4/24 vs West Indies Champions

Ajmal began dismantling the Australian batting lineup in the sixth over, removing their top-scorer Ben Dunk, who hit 26 off 14 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes. He followed up with two more wickets in the same over and then dismissed Ben Cutting in his next spell, moving within one wicket of a five-for.
He sealed the milestone in his final over, dismissing Peter Siddle, caught by Shoaib Malik, before bowling out Steve O’Keefe, wrapping up the Australian innings for a modest 74 runs.
In reply, Pakistan Champions chased down the target effortlessly, reaching the total without losing a wicket and with 73 balls to spare. Sharjeel Khan scored an unbeaten 32, while Sohaib Maqsood added 28 not out to guide the team to a dominant victory.
Ajmal’s heroic performance not only earned him individual accolades but also strengthened Pakistan Champions’ position in the tournament.
