Saddle Up! Tent Pegging Championship Kicks Off in Style

Lahore: The thunder of hooves and the clash of lances marked the grand opening of the Tent Pegging Championship at the Horse & Cattle Show 2025, an electrifying spectacle that has drawn top equestrian talent from across the globe. 

Held at Lahore’s historic Fortress Stadium and the Banyan Tree Polo Ground, the event is more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of Pakistan’s rich equestrian heritage, blending tradition with world-class sporting excellence.

Organized by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), the championship features a dazzling array of contests, including tent pegging, mounted archery, Buzkashi, and Shandur polo, bringing together warriors of the saddle in a battle of speed, precision, and horsemanship.

With 13 international teams from Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Norway, the USA, South Africa, Oman, Turkey, and Kazakhstan, alongside elite local riders, the competition promises heart-pounding action. Over 250 riders, including more than 50 international participants, are competing in single, double, and triple lance events, pushing the limits of equestrian mastery.

Spectators, both men and women, have flocked to the stadiums, captivated by the breathtaking stunts and fierce rivalries. PHA Lahore Director General Tahir Wattoo hailed the championship as a landmark initiative by the Punjab government, fostering global sportsmanship while preserving Pakistan’s cultural legacy. 

He emphasized that while local teams battle it out at Fortress Stadium, the high-stakes international face-offs are unfolding at the Banyan Tree Polo Ground in Lahore Cantt.

As the competition gallops ahead, the Tent Pegging Championship is not just about trophies—it’s about legacy, passion, and the timeless bond between rider and horse.
