RWMC on High Alert to Prevent Flooding, Dengue Spread

News Desk

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has deployed additional sanitary workers to clean and dredge major drains to prevent urban flooding.

According to an RWMC spokesperson on Wednesday, the company is making every effort to address any potential issues and is actively clearing nullahs and choked drains during the ongoing intermittent rainfall.

Additional staff have been assigned to work in three shifts to ensure continuous cleanliness, preventing sanitation-related problems from hindering the smooth flow of water. Complaints received on social media platforms are also being promptly addressed.

In addition, RWMC’s communication teams are conducting an anti-dengue awareness campaign in various areas of the city.

The campaign aims to educate the public about dengue’s growth, incidence, treatment, and prevention. Teams are distributing waste bags and informational leaflets, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness in preventing dengue.

RWMC has urged citizens to monitor junkyards, schools, and under-construction buildings, which can harbor dengue larvae, and to ensure no areas are left wet or with stagnant water. Citizens are encouraged to register complaints via the helpline at 1139, which will be resolved promptly.

RWMC has also appealed to the public to avoid disposing of garbage and plastic bags in nullahs and drains, as these can cause blockages.
