RWMC Empowers Residents to Combat Smog Pollution

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) conducted an impactful anti-smog and cleanliness awareness session at Divisional Public School and College (DPS) Shamsabad last Wednesday, aiming to combat smog-related issues.
Chairman Saqib Rafiq, along with Manager of Communication Nasir Mehmood, joined Principal Professor Yasin Mirza, teaching faculty, and a substantial gathering of students during the session.
During his address, Chief Guest Saqib Rafiq passionately encouraged students to spread awareness about RWMC’s anti-smog and cleanliness initiatives in their households. Emphasizing the significance of maintaining clean surroundings, he urged them to take responsibility for keeping their homes, streets, and neighborhoods pristine. Rafiq highlighted the importance of discouraging the burning of garbage and emphasized the necessity of ensuring no stagnant water to prevent smog and dengue outbreaks.
Rafiq commended RWMC’s diligent efforts in maintaining the city’s cleanliness through the dedicated work of sanitary workers. He advised the students to use dustbins properly and carry waste disposal bags while in school or traveling.
Encouraging active participation, the RWMC Chairman sought the students’ support in the organization’s endeavors and provided the helpline number 1139 for any grievances or complaints. He also mentioned plans to enhance cleanliness standards by increasing the number of waste containers.
Professor Yasin Mirza, in his speech, pledged full support from DPS, expressing willingness for volunteers to collaborate with RWMC in cleaning specific areas, aiming to raise awareness about sanitation and a healthy environment.
Subsequently, a symbolic walk was held, symbolizing the importance of purity, with enthusiastic participation from numerous students. Additionally, RWMC organized an awareness camp outside the college premises, distributing informative pamphlets emphasizing the crucial role of cleanliness in combating smog.
