RWMC Conducts Anti-Smog Action

Rawalpindi: In a bid to eradicate waste and Smog from the district, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) is carrying out continuous cleaning activities.
As per RWMC Spokesman on Wednesday, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed a grand cleaning operation under the name “Smog Safe Punjab” to counter this year’s imminent threat of smog in Rawalpindi.
Spokesperson stated that washing and mechanical sweeping of major city roads including Murree Road, Fifth Road, Sixth Road Fourth B Road, Iran Road , Saidpur Road , Double Road , Old Airport Road Civil Lines Road Iqbal Road Liaquat Road Rashid Minhas Road Red Line and Metro bus Orange Line tracks was been conducted daily to maintain a smog free environment for residents living within its confines.
Meanwhile, RWMC has requested people not to burn any waste or chemicals outside since they are some of major causes of smog; it also emphasized that burning garbage is illegal because it emits smoke which leads to –among others- diseases related to lungs as well as causing destruction of ozone layer due pollution hence affecting everyone’s health adversely.
He urged the residents to ensure the spraying of water to prevent dust and to use masks and glasses, adding the promotion of tree plantation was vital for avoiding smog and checking environmental pollution.
