Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rana Sajid Safdar praised sanitary workers for their dedication to maintaining cleanliness in the city during the Eid holidays and Ashura day processions.
Speaking at a grand banquet, Rana Sajid acknowledged the entire RWMC staff for their outstanding performance in successfully removing all waste materials along the procession routes and sprinkling lime powder after the processions concluded. He further commended the workers for their hard work despite challenges such as holidays, epidemics, and inclement weather.
Moreover, a special cleanliness program was implemented, in line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s policy, to ensure procession routes remained clean for mourners. The plan included cleaning Imambargah, procession routes, and surrounding areas; emptying waste containers and clearing nullahs and drains; removing construction material and debris from procession routes; and setting up relief camps to maintain cleanliness throughout the processions.
Sanitary workers’ holidays were cancelled and extra staff were deployed to ensure cleanliness arrangements.
An ongoing anti-dengue drive is also being conducted to raise awareness about the dangers of the dengue virus and promote fundamental cleanliness standards.
