Islamabad: Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a two-year contract extension with Al Nassr, the Saudi Pro League club announced on Thursday. The new deal will keep the Portuguese star at the club beyond his 42nd birthday.
Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in late 2022 after parting ways with Manchester United, and has since scored an impressive 93 goals in 105 appearances across all competitions.
“A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together,” Ronaldo shared in a post on X.
He initially signed a two-and-a-half-year deal following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, becoming the highest-paid athlete globally—a position he has maintained for the past three years, according to Forbes. At age 40, his total estimated earnings stand at around $275 million.
Despite his age, Ronaldo continues to perform at a high level, recently leading Portugal to their second UEFA Nations League title with a win over Spain in the final.
He is also aiming to reach the milestone of 1,000 career goals. So far, he has scored 794 goals in club football and 138 for Portugal, bringing his total to 932.
Ronaldo’s move to Saudi Arabia paved the way for several top European players, including his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema, to join the Saudi Pro League.
While Ronaldo has helped Al Nassr win the Arab Club Champions Cup, the club has yet to clinch the SPL title during his time there. They finished as runners-up in the 2022–23 and 2023–24 seasons and placed third in the most recent campaign.
